Coffee Whisky Cocktail: A Bold Mexican Twist on a Classic
Let’s be honest—some cocktails are just... fine. They do their job, they taste okay. But every once in a while, you stumble upon a drink that tells a story. That’s what this coffee whisky cocktail is all about.
We took the classic espresso martini and gave it something it never knew it needed: soul. Instead of vodka, we’re using Ley Seca Corralejo, a bold Mexican whisky full of spice, depth, and heritage. The result? A drink that looks like midnight.
☕ What Makes This Cocktail Unique?
If you’ve ever tried a regular espresso martini, you know it’s nice. But sometimes... nice isn’t enough. It lacks Mystery.
That’s where Corralejo whisky comes in. This isn’t just another spirit—it’s Mexican craftsmanship in a bottle. With hints of toasted oak, vanilla, and warm spices, it adds heart to the drink. Not just caffeine—but warmth. Intensity. Character.
🧾 Ingredients
To make this cocktail, here’s what you need:
- 50 ml Ley Seca Corralejo Whisky
- 30 ml freshly brewed espresso
- 20 ml coffee liqueur (like Kahlúa or your favorite)
- Ice
- Garnish: 2–3 coffee beans, a dusting of cacao, or a twist of dried orange.
How to Make It
1. Brew the Coffee
Make a strong espresso shot. If you don't have a coffee maker, a soluble coffee, but keep in mind that it won't taste as good.
2. Shake
Add the whisky, espresso, and coffee liqueur into a shaker with ice. Around 15 seconds.
3. Strain
Double strain into a chilled martini glass. You want that silky foam on top.
4. Decorate with Intention
Place a few coffee beans, a light sprinkle of bitter cocoa, or a slice of orange on top.
🥃 Why is Corralejo Whisky the best for this cocktail?
We won’t lie—this cocktail works because Corralejo works. It’s bold but elegant. Earthy but smooth. Sweet but spicy.
And it’s Mexican. 100%. That means every sip supports tradition, talent, and taste from León, Guanajuato.
This isn’t a random drink. It’s an experience that could only be born from Mexico’s boldest flavors.

❓ Questions You Might Have
Can I use another whisky?
You can... but it won’t be the same.
What if I don’t have a cocktail shaker?
A jar with a lid works just fine! It’s about the energy you put into it.
Is it very sweet?
Not really. The coffee adds bitterness, and the whisky adds depth. The liqueur gives just enough sweetness to balance it all out.
Do I need espresso?
Ideally yes. But a strong brew from a moka pot or French press can do the trick too.
Is this good for international menus?
Absolutely. It’s elegant, surprising, and distinctly Mexican—perfect for cocktail menus or events abroad.
